[693] "He, released from views, is a wise one" (sa vippamutto diṭṭhigatehi dhīro): the sixty-two views (diṭṭhigata) have been abandoned by him, cut off, stilled, tranquillized, rendered incapable of arising again, burnt up by the fire of knowledge (ñāṇa). He, released from views, detached from them, dwells with a mind (citta) made free of boundaries. "A wise one" (dhīro): he is wise, a learned man, possessed of wisdom, endowed with intelligence, possessed of knowledge, discerning, sagacious. Therefore: "He, released from views, is a wise one."
