[119] "Whatever (yā pana)" means: whoever, of whatever sort …
"Bhikkhunī" means: … this is the bhikkhunī intended in this context.
"With a requisite (parikkhāra) intended for one purpose, designated for another (aññadatthikena parikkhārena aññuddisikena)": with what was given for the benefit of something else.
"Belonging to the Saṅgha (saṅghikena)": [given] for the benefit of the Saṅgha, not for a group, not for a single bhikkhunī.
"Should have something else exchanged in its place (aññaṃ cetāpeyya)": setting aside that for the purpose of which it was given, she has something else exchanged in its place — in the effort there is an offense of wrongdoing (dukkaṭa); upon obtaining it, it becomes subject to forfeiture (nissaggiya). It is to be forfeited to the Saṅgha, or to a group, or to a single bhikkhunī.
"And thus, bhikkhus, it should be forfeited: … 'Venerable ladies, this thing, which I had exchanged in place of something else with a requisite belonging to the Saṅgha, intended for one purpose and designated for another, is to be forfeited. I forfeit it to the Saṅgha.' … 'should give …' … 'should give …' … 'I give it to the venerable lady.'"
