A residence (āvāsa) called **"without a bhikkhu" (abhikkhuka)** is one from which it is not possible to go for the exhortation (ovāda) or for communion (saṃvāsa).
Thinking, "I shall spend the rains (vassa)," she prepares a lodging (senāsana), sets out drinking water and water for washing, and sweeps the surrounding yard (pariveṇa): an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). Together with the arising of dawn: an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya).
