[48] **"Yā pana" ("Whatever… who"):** whoever, of whatever sort … . **"Bhikkhunī":** … — this is the one intended here by "bhikkhunī."
**"United (samagga)" Saṅgha** means: belonging to the same communion (samānasaṃvāsaka), standing within the same boundary (sīmā).
**"Suspended (ukkhittā)"** means: suspended for not seeing an offence (āpatti), or for not making amends for an offence, or for not relinquishing (a bad view).
**"In accordance with the Dhamma, in accordance with the Vinaya"** means: by that Dhamma, by that Vinaya.
**"By the Teacher's instruction (satthusāsana)"** means: by the Conqueror's instruction, by the Buddha's instruction.
**"Without having obtained leave from the Saṅgha that carries out (the act)"** means: without having asked leave of the Saṅgha that performs the formal act (kammakāraka-saṅgha).
**"Without knowing the wish of the community (gaṇa)"** means: not having ascertained the consent (chanda) of the community.
**"(Thinking,) 'I shall reinstate (her)'":** she seeks out a community, or she agrees upon a boundary — an offence of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). With the motion (ñatti): a dukkaṭa. With each of the two proclamations of the act (kammavācā): a grave offence (thullaccaya). At the conclusion of the (final) proclamation of the act: an offence of saṅghādisesa.
