[485] Now at that time bhikkhunīs were sick. The bhikkhunīs who inquired after the sick said this to the sick bhikkhunīs: "We hope, ladies, that you can bear up; we hope you can keep going?"
"Previously, ladies, we would ask for ghee and consume it, and thereby we were at ease. But now, being scrupulous, thinking, 'It has been prohibited by the Blessed One,' we do not ask; and therefore we are not at ease."
They reported this matter to the Blessed One. … "Bhikkhus, I allow a sick bhikkhunī to ask for ghee and consume it. And thus, bhikkhus, let the bhikkhunīs recite this training rule (sikkhāpada):
"Should any bhikkhunī who is not sick ask for ghee and consume it, it is to be acknowledged by that bhikkhunī thus: 'Ladies, I have committed a blameworthy, unsuitable act that is to be acknowledged (pāṭidesanīya); I acknowledge it.'"
