[71] **"That bhikkhunī"** means: the bhikkhunī who speaks thus.
**"By bhikkhunīs"** means: by other bhikkhunīs. Those who see it and those who hear of it — by them she should be told: "Do not, lady, having been defeated in some legal issue (adhikaraṇa), being angry and displeased, speak thus: 'The bhikkhunīs follow the course of desire … and the bhikkhunīs follow the course of fear.' It may be the lady herself who goes by desire … who goes by fear." She should be told a second time; she should be told a third time. If she relinquishes it, that is good; if she does not relinquish it, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). If, having heard of it, they do not speak, there is an offense of wrong-doing. That bhikkhunī should be drawn even into the midst of the Saṅgha and told: "Do not, lady, having been defeated in some legal issue, being angry and displeased, speak thus: 'The bhikkhunīs follow the course of desire … and the bhikkhunīs follow the course of fear.' It may be the lady herself who goes by desire … who goes by fear." She should be told a second time; she should be told a third time. If she relinquishes it, that is good; if she does not relinquish it, there is an offense of wrong-doing.
