[158] **"Again and again the dullard comes to suffering"** (punappunaṃ dukkhamupeti mando): "Again and again he comes to suffering (dukkha)" means: again and again he comes to, approaches, arrives at, grasps, clings to, and holds fast to the suffering of birth, the suffering of aging, the suffering of illness (byādhi), the suffering of death, and the suffering of sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair. Thus, "again and again he comes to suffering."
**"Dullard"** (mando) means: he is dull, deluded, unknowing, gone into ignorance (avijjā), without knowledge (ñāṇa), lacking clear understanding, of poor wisdom. Thus, "again and again the dullard comes to suffering."
