[201] **Bhavābhave saṅgam imaṃ visajja** — "having relinquished this tie in existence upon existence."
**"Bhavābhave" (in existence upon existence):** in existence upon existence, that is, in kamma-existence (kammabhava) and in renewed existence (punabbhava); in sense-sphere existence (kāmabhava) as kamma-existence, in sense-sphere existence as renewed existence; in form existence (rūpabhava) as kamma-existence, in form existence as renewed existence; in formless existence (arūpabhava) as kamma-existence, in formless existence as renewed existence; in existence again and again, in destination again and again, in reappearance again and again, in rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi) again and again, in the production of individual existence (attabhāva) again and again.
**"Tie" (saṅga):** there are seven ties: the tie of lust (rāga), the tie of hatred, the tie of delusion (moha), the tie of conceit (māna), the tie of view (diṭṭhi), the tie of defilements (kilesa), and the tie of misconduct (duccarita).
**"Having relinquished" (visajja):** having let go of the ties — thus "having relinquished." Or else, having freed himself from the ties — from the bonds, the fastenings, the attachments, the entanglements, the impediments, the bondage — thus "having relinquished." And just as people make a vehicle, a palanquin, a chariot, a cart, or a sledge that is harnessed become unharnessed — they take it apart — even so, having let go of those ties, he has relinquished them; or else, having freed himself from the ties — from the bonds, the fastenings, the attachments, the entanglements, the impediments, the bondage — thus "having relinquished." Hence, "having relinquished this tie in existence upon existence."
