[254] **Relying on nothingness, having abandoned the other (ākiñcaññaṃ nissito hitvamaññaṃ)**: having abandoned, avoided, relinquished, passed over, transcended, and gone altogether beyond the six lower attainments (samāpatti), one relies upon, cleaves to, has approached, has fully approached, holds to, and is resolved upon the attainment of the sphere of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana-samāpatti) — hence, "relying on nothingness, having abandoned the other."
