[261] **He would remain there, not straying away (tiṭṭheyya so tattha anānuyāyī):** *He would remain* (tiṭṭheyya): he would remain for sixty thousand eons (saṭṭhīkappasahassāni). *There* (tattha): in the sphere of nothingness (ākiñcaññāyatana). *Not straying away* (anānuyāyī): not straying away, not wavering, not departing, not vanishing, not falling away. Or else: not becoming lustful, not becoming hateful, not becoming deluded, not becoming defiled — thus, "he would remain there, not straying away." Therefore the Blessed One said:
"One who is devoid of lust for all sensual pleasures, (Upasīva," said the Blessed One,)
relying on nothingness, having abandoned the other,
resolved upon the supreme liberation through perception (saññāvimokkha) —
he would remain there, not straying away."
