[339] **"The dispelling of desire and lust (chandarāgavinodana)":** "desire and lust (chandarāga)" is whatever, regarding sensual pleasures, is sensual desire (kāmacchanda), sensual lust (kāmarāga), delight in sensual pleasures (kāmanandi), craving for sensual pleasures (kāmataṇhā), affection for sensual pleasures (kāmasineha), fever for sensual pleasures (kāmapariḷāha), infatuation with sensual pleasures (kāmamucchā), cleaving to sensual pleasures (kāmajjhosāna), the flood of sensuality (kāmogha), the yoke of sensuality (kāmayoga), clinging to sensuality (kāmupādāna), the hindrance (nīvaraṇa) of sensual desire.
"The dispelling of desire and lust": the abandoning of desire and lust, the stilling of desire and lust, the relinquishing of desire and lust, the tranquilizing of desire and lust — the Deathless (amata), Nibbāna — thus it is "the dispelling of desire and lust."
