[342] **Those who, mindful, have understood this** (*etadaññāya ye satā*): "This" (*etaṃ*) is the deathless (amata), Nibbāna — that which is the stilling of all conditioned things (saṅkhārā), the relinquishment of all acquisitions (upadhi), the destruction of craving (taṇhā), dispassion (virāga), cessation, Nibbāna.
"Having understood" (*aññāya*): having understood, having known, having weighed, having judged, having clarified, having made evident. Having understood, known, weighed, judged, clarified, and made evident that "all conditioned things are impermanent"; having understood, known, weighed, judged, clarified, and made evident that "all conditioned things are suffering (dukkha)," that "all dhammas are not-self" … that "whatever is subject to origination, all that is subject to cessation."
"Those who" (*ye*): the Arahants whose taints (āsava) are destroyed.
"Mindful" (*satā*): they are mindful for four reasons: they are mindful in developing the establishment of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) that is contemplating the body in the body … they are called "mindful." Hence: "those who, mindful, have understood this."
