[384] **Those who, mindful, having understood this (etadaññāya ye satā).** "This" (etaṃ): the deathless Nibbāna — that which is the stilling of all formations (saṅkhārā), the relinquishment of all attachments (upadhi), the destruction of craving (taṇhā), dispassion, cessation, Nibbāna.
"Having understood" (aññāya): having understood, having known, having weighed, having scrutinized, having made clear, having made evident that "all formations are impermanent" … "whatever is subject to origination, all that is subject to cessation" — having thus understood, known, weighed, scrutinized, made clear, and made evident.
"Those who" (ye): the Arahants whose taints (āsava) are destroyed.
"Mindful" (satā): they are mindful for four reasons — mindful as they develop the establishment of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna) of contemplating the body in the body … therefore they are called "mindful." Hence: "those who, mindful, having understood this."
