[548] **Asking (pucchantā)**, in the passage "asking subtle questions (pucchantā nipuṇe pañhe)": *asking* means asking, begging, requesting, entreating him to graciously (respond). **Subtle questions (nipuṇe pañhe)**: questions that are deep, hard to see, hard to understand, peaceful, sublime, beyond the sphere of reasoning (atakkāvacara), subtle, to be experienced by the wise (paṇḍitavedanīya). Hence: "asking subtle questions."
