Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Paṭisambhidāmagga · Vol. 31 · Section 129

[129] How is there diversity in the application (abhinīhāra) of the mind (citta) toward equanimity regarding formations (saṅkhārupekkhā) for a worldling (puthujjana), for a trainee (sekkha), and for one free from lust (vītarāga)? For a worldling, equanimity regarding formations is at some times well understood, and at some times not well understood. For a trainee too, equanimity regarding formations is at some times well understood [1]. For one free from lust, equanimity regarding formations is absolutely well understood. Thus there is diversity in the application of the mind toward equanimity regarding formations for a worldling, for a trainee, and for one free from lust — in the sense of its being known and in the sense of its being unknown.
