[153] By the path of once-returning (sakadāgāmimagga), the gross fetter of sensual lust and the fetter of repulsion, the gross latent tendency (anusaya) to sensual lust and the latent tendency to repulsion — these defilements of one's own mind (citta) — are completely cut off. From these four defilements (upakkilesa), together with their obsessions (pariyuṭṭhāna), the mind is liberated, well liberated. In the sense of knowing that liberation, it is knowledge (ñāṇa); in the sense of understanding, it is wisdom (paññā). Therefore it is said: wisdom in contemplating what has been cut off is the knowledge of liberation (vimuttiñāṇa).
