[154] By the path of non-return (anāgāmimaggena), the fetter of sensual lust (kāmarāga) of a subtle degree, the fetter of repulsion (paṭigha), the latent tendency to sensual lust of a subtle degree, and the latent tendency to repulsion — mental defilements (upakkilesa) of one's own mind (citta) — are completely cut off. From these four mental defilements together with their obsessions (pariyuṭṭhāna), the mind is liberated, well liberated. In the sense of knowing that liberation, it is knowledge (ñāṇa); in the sense of understanding, it is wisdom. Therefore it is said: wisdom in contemplating what has been cut off is knowledge of liberation (vimuttiñāṇa).
