[178] How does one define (vavattheti) states of the sense sphere (kāmāvacara) as wholesome, define them as unwholesome, define them as indeterminate (abyākata)? One defines the ten wholesome courses of action (kusalakammapatha) as wholesome; one defines the ten unwholesome courses of action (akusalakammapatha) as unwholesome; one defines form, resultant (vipāka), and functional (kiriya) [states] as indeterminate. Thus one defines states of the sense sphere as wholesome, defines them as unwholesome, defines them as indeterminate.
