[207] Seeing the sign of form (rūpanimittaṃ) as fearful, through being resolved upon the signless (animitta), with each contact he sees the fall [of formations]; having looked on with equanimity at occurrence, having adverted to cessation, to Nibbāna, the signless, he attains: [this is] the signless attainment of abiding (animittā vihārasamāpatti). Seeing the desire for form (rūpapaṇidhiṃ) as fearful, through being resolved upon the desireless (appaṇihita), with each contact he sees the fall; having looked on with equanimity at occurrence, having adverted to cessation, to Nibbāna, the desireless, he attains: [this is] the desireless attainment of abiding (appaṇihitā vihārasamāpatti). Seeing adherence to form (rūpābhinivesaṃ) as fearful, through being resolved upon emptiness (suññata), with each contact he sees the fall; having looked on with equanimity at occurrence, having adverted to cessation, to Nibbāna, the empty, he attains: [this is] the emptiness attainment of abiding (suññatā vihārasamāpatti).
