[230] "Non-appearance" (anupaṭṭhānatā): for one who has obtained renunciation (nekkhamma), sensual desire (kāmacchanda) does not appear; for one who has obtained non-ill will (abyāpāda), ill will (byāpāda) does not appear; for one who has obtained the perception of light (ālokasaññā), dullness and drowsiness (thīna-middha) do not appear; for one who has obtained non-distraction (avikkhepa), restlessness (uddhacca) does not appear; for one who has obtained the defining of dhammas (dhammavavatthāna), doubt (vicikicchā) does not appear; for one who has obtained knowledge (ñāṇa), ignorance (avijjā) does not appear; for one who has obtained gladness (pāmujja), discontent (arati) does not appear; for one who has obtained the first jhāna, the hindrances (nīvaraṇa) do not appear … for one who has obtained the path of arahantship (arahattamagga), all defilements (kilesa) do not appear.
