[235] "Power (tejo)": there are five powers — the power of conduct (caraṇa-tejo), the power of virtue (guṇa-tejo), the power of wisdom (paññā-tejo), the power of merit (puñña-tejo), and the power of the Dhamma (dhamma-tejo). Through being kindled by the power of conduct, one exhausts the power of bad morality (dussīlya); through being kindled by the power of virtue, one exhausts the power of what is devoid of virtue; through being kindled by the power of wisdom, one exhausts the power of poor wisdom; through being kindled by the power of merit, one exhausts the power of demerit; through being kindled by the power of the Dhamma, one exhausts the power of what is contrary to the Dhamma.
