[237] How is wisdom in the sense of upholding (paggaha) the unshrunken self and the resolute self knowledge (ñāṇa) of the exertion of energy (viriyārambha)? Wisdom in the sense of upholding the unshrunken self and the resolute self for the non-arising of evil, unwholesome dhammas that have not yet arisen is knowledge of the exertion of energy. Wisdom in the sense of upholding the unshrunken self and the resolute self for the abandoning of evil, unwholesome dhammas that have arisen is knowledge of the exertion of energy. Wisdom in the sense of upholding the unshrunken self and the resolute self for the arising of wholesome dhammas that have not yet arisen is knowledge of the exertion of energy. Wisdom in the sense of upholding the unshrunken self and the resolute self for the persistence, non-confusion, increase, abundance, development, and fulfillment of wholesome dhammas that have arisen is knowledge of the exertion of energy.
