[348] By which eighteen modes does adherence (abhinivesa) come about through the view running after the past (pubbantānudiṭṭhi)?
The four doctrines of eternalism (sassatavāda), the four doctrines of partial eternalism (ekaccasassatika), the four doctrines of the finite and the infinite (antānantika), the four doctrines of endless equivocation (amarāvikkhepika), and the two doctrines of fortuitous origination (adhiccasamuppannika) — by these eighteen modes does adherence come about through the view running after the past.
