[621] Bhikkhus, there are these five powers (bala). Which five? The power of faith (saddhābala), the power of energy (vīriyabala), the power of mindfulness (satibala), the power of concentration (samādhi) (samādhibala), and the power of wisdom (paññābala). These, bhikkhus, are the five powers. Furthermore, there are sixty-eight powers: the power of faith, the power of energy, the power of mindfulness, the power of concentration, the power of wisdom, the power of moral shame (hiribala), the power of moral dread (ottappabala), the power of reflection (paṭisaṅkhānabala), the power of development (bhāvanābala), the power of blamelessness (anavajjabala), the power of sympathetic aid (saṅgāhabala), the power of patience (khantibala), the power of designation (paññattibala), the power of persuasion (nijjhattibala), the power of mastery (issariyabala), the power of resolution (adhiṭṭhānabala), the power of serenity (samathabala), the power of insight (vipassanābala), the ten powers of the trainee (sekkhabala), the ten powers of one beyond training (asekkhabala), the ten powers of one whose taints (āsava) are destroyed (khīṇāsavabala), the ten powers of spiritual potency (iddhibala), and the ten powers of the Tathāgata (tathāgatabala).
