[655] What is voidness of acceptance (khanti)? Acceptance consisting in renunciation (nekkhamma) is void of sensual desire (kāmacchanda); acceptance consisting in non-ill will is void of ill will (byāpāda); acceptance consisting in the perception of light is void of dullness and drowsiness (thīna-middha); acceptance consisting in non-distraction is void of restlessness (uddhacca); acceptance consisting in the defining of dhammas is void of doubt (vicikicchā); acceptance consisting in knowledge (ñāṇa) is void of ignorance (avijjā); acceptance consisting in gladness is void of discontent; acceptance consisting in the first jhāna is void of the hindrances (nīvaraṇa) … acceptance consisting in the path of Arahantship is void of all defilements. This is voidness of acceptance.
