[663] Bhikkhus, these four dhammas, when developed and made much of, lead to the obtaining of wisdom (paññā), lead to the growth of wisdom, lead to the fullness of wisdom (paññāvepulla), lead to greatness of wisdom (mahāpaññatā), lead to extensiveness of wisdom (puthupaññatā), lead to abundance of wisdom (vipulapaññatā), lead to depth of wisdom (gambhīrapaññatā), lead to peerless wisdom (assāmantapaññatā), lead to wisdom broad as the earth (bhūripaññatā), lead to plenitude of wisdom (paññābāhulla), lead to swiftness of wisdom (sīghapaññatā), lead to quickness of wisdom (lahupaññatā), lead to joyousness of wisdom (hāsapaññatā), lead to alacrity of wisdom (javanapaññatā), lead to sharpness of wisdom (tikkhapaññatā), lead to penetrativeness of wisdom (nibbedhikapaññatā). Which four? Association with good persons (sappurisasaṃseva), hearing the true Dhamma (saddhammassavana), reasoned attention (yonisomanasikāra), and practice in accordance with the Dhamma (dhammānudhammapaṭipatti). These four dhammas, bhikkhus, when developed and made much of, lead to the obtaining of wisdom, lead to the growth of wisdom … lead to penetrativeness of wisdom.
