[688] What is success by the pervasion of knowledge (ñāṇavipphārā iddhi)?
"The meaning of abandoning (pahāna) the perception (saññā) of permanence is accomplished through the contemplation of impermanence (aniccānupassanā)" — thus it is success by the pervasion of knowledge (ñāṇa). "The meaning of abandoning the perception of pleasure [is accomplished] through the contemplation of suffering (dukkhānupassanā); of the perception of self, through the contemplation of not-self (anattānupassanā); of delight (nandī), through the contemplation of disenchantment (nibbidānupassanā); of lust (rāga), through the contemplation of dispassion (virāgānupassanā); of the origin, through the contemplation of cessation (nirodhānupassanā); of grasping (ādāna), through the contemplation of relinquishment (paṭinissaggānupassanā)" — thus it is success by the pervasion of knowledge. The success by the pervasion of knowledge of the Venerable Bakkula; the success by the pervasion of knowledge of the Venerable Saṅkicca; the success by the pervasion of knowledge of the Venerable Bhūtapāla. This is success by the pervasion of knowledge.
