[708] Of right thought (sammāsaṅkappa) … of right speech (sammāvācā) … of right action (sammākammanta) … of right livelihood (sammā-ājīva) … of right effort (sammāvāyāma) … of right mindfulness (sammāsati) … .
Of right concentration (sammāsamādhi), what are the five seclusions (viveka)? Seclusion by suppression (vikkhambhanaviveka), seclusion by the opposite factor (tadaṅgaviveka), seclusion by cutting off (samucchedaviveka), seclusion by tranquilization (paṭippassaddhiviveka), and seclusion by escape (nissaraṇaviveka). Seclusion by suppression of the hindrances (nīvaraṇa) is for one developing the first jhāna; seclusion by the opposite factor from wrong views is for one developing concentration partaking of penetration; seclusion by cutting off is for one developing the supramundane path leading to destruction; seclusion by tranquilization is at the moment of fruition; and seclusion by escape is cessation, Nibbāna. These are the five seclusions of right concentration. One comes to have desire born in him regarding these five seclusions, is resolved through faith, and his mind (citta) is well established therein.
