[97] Understanding in the discernment of conditions (paccayapariggaha) thus: "Ignorance (avijjā) is a condition; volitional formations (saṅkhārā) are conditionally arisen; both these dhammas are conditionally arisen" — this is knowledge (ñāṇa) of the stability of dhammas (dhammaṭṭhitiñāṇa).
Understanding in the discernment of conditions thus: "In the past period too, and in the future period too, ignorance is a condition; volitional formations are conditionally arisen; both these dhammas are conditionally arisen" — this is knowledge of the stability of dhammas.
Understanding in the discernment of conditions thus: "Volitional formations are a condition; consciousness (viññāṇa) is conditionally arisen. Consciousness is a condition; name-and-form (nāmarūpa) is conditionally arisen. Name-and-form is a condition; the six sense bases (saḷāyatana) are conditionally arisen. The six sense bases are a condition; contact (phassa) is conditionally arisen. Contact is a condition; feeling (vedanā) is conditionally arisen. Feeling is a condition; craving (taṇhā) is conditionally arisen. Craving is a condition; clinging (upādāna) is conditionally arisen. Clinging is a condition; existence (bhava) is conditionally arisen. Existence is a condition; birth (jāti) is conditionally arisen. Birth is a condition; aging-and-death (jarāmaraṇa) is conditionally arisen. Both these dhammas are conditionally arisen" — this is knowledge of the stability of dhammas.
