[242] Formerly I was a smith in Tivarā, the foremost of cities;
I gave a single adze (vāsi) to the Self-Become One (Sayambhū), the unconquered.
In the ninety-fourth aeon (kappa) from now — the adze that I gave then —
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the gift of an adze.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (abhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Vāsidāyaka spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Vāsidāyaka is concluded.
Summary (uddāna):
Udakāsani, Bhājaniya, Sālapupphī, Kilañjada,
Vedikā and Vaṇṇakāra, Piyāla and Ambayāgada,
Jagatī and Vāsidāyī — and the verses are thirty and eight.
