[271] In the very middle of the Himavant there was a lake, well-fashioned;
there I was a demon (rakkhasa), head downward, terrifying.
Vipassī, the Leader of the World, sympathetic and compassionate,
wishing to lift me out, came into my presence.
When the Great Hero, the Deva of devas, the Bull among men, had drawn near,
I came forth from my lair and paid homage to the Teacher.
In the ninety-first aeon (kappa) from now, since I paid homage to the Supreme among Men,
I know of no bad destination: this is the fruit of paying homage.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Upāgatahāsaniya Thera spoke these verses.
