[270] At that time I was a kinnara on the bank of the river Candabhāgā;
I saw the Buddha Vipassī, enveloped in a net of rays.
With a confident mind (citta), glad at heart, and with supreme rapture (pīti),
holding up a salaḷa flower, I strewed it over Vipassī.
In the ninety-first eon from now, since I offered that flower in worship,
I know of no bad destination: this is the fruit of worship of the Buddha.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Salaḷapupphiya Thera spoke these verses.
