[258] At that time I was Candana by name,
the own son of the Fully Awakened One (Sambuddha);
a single sandal (upāhana) was given by me [with the aspiration]:
"May you bring awakening (bodhi) to fulfillment for me."
In the ninety-first aeon (kappa) from now,
since I then gave that footwear,
I know of no bad destination (duggati):
this is the fruit of the sandal.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Upāhanadāyaka speak these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Upāhanadāyaka is concluded.
