[277] I gave a place to stay to the ascetic, the great seer (mahesi),
who was dwelling at an udumbara tree upon a fixed spread of leaves.
Raising my joined palms in reverence (añjali), I spread out a spread of flowers
for Tissa, lord of the two-footed, protector of the world, the steadfast one (tādī).
In the ninety-second aeon (kappa) from now I made that spread of flowers;
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the spread.
In the fourteenth aeon from now I was a lord of men
named Ekaañjalika, a wheel-turning monarch (cakkavatti) of great might.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (abhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Ekañjaliya Thera spoke these verses.
