[283] I was seated in a hall of leaves (paṇṇasālā),
eating a meal of leaves;
and as I sat settled there,
the great seer came up to me.
Siddhattha, the Lamp of the World,
the Healer of the entire world —
to him, seated¹ on a spread of leaves,
I gave leaves.
In the ninety-fourth aeon (kappa) from now,
it was then that I gave that leaf;
I know of no bad destination (duggati) —
this is the fruit of the gift of leaves.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and these eight liberations (vimokkha) too,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
It was thus that the Venerable Elder Paṇṇadāyaka spoke these verses.
