[291] "Vedhambhinī"¹ was then my name — I being my father's own (child);
taking me by the hand, he led me up to the Great Sage (mahāmuni).
"These Buddhas, the foremost leaders of the world, have designated me" —
full of confidence, I attended² upon them respectfully with my own hands.
In the thirty-first aeon from now, I waited upon³ the Buddhas then;
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of attendance (upaṭṭhāna).
In the twenty-third aeon from now, there were four khattiyas (warrior-nobles),
universal monarchs (cakkavatti) of great might, named Samaṇupaṭṭhaka.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Buddhupaṭṭhāyika Thera spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of Buddhupaṭṭhāyika Thera is concluded.
