[357] Having plunged into the forest wilds, having then cut a bamboo,
I took a support (ālambana) and gave it to the Saṅgha.

With that confidence of mind, having paid homage to those of virtuous vows,¹
and having given the support as well, I departed facing north.
In the ninety-fourth aeon from now, since I gave that staff (daṇḍa) then,
I know of no bad destination: this is the fruit of the gift of a staff.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the venerable Elder Daṇḍadāyaka speak these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Daṇḍadāyaka is concluded.
