[388] All the people, gathering together, came then to the forest;
searching for fruit, they then obtained fruit.
There I saw the Sambuddha, the Self-Existent One (sayambhū), the Unconquered;
with a mind (citta) full of confidence, glad at heart, I gave a creeper fruit (valliphala).
In the thirty-first aeon from now, since I gave that fruit then,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the gift of fruit.
Truly, it was a good coming for me, into the presence of my Buddha:
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned up; all existences (bhava) have been extirpated;
like an elephant that has cut through its bonds, I dwell without taints (āsava).
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (abhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Valliphaladāyaka spoke these verses.
