[96] Formerly I was a smith in Bandhumā, the supreme city;
the gift of a needle was given by me to Vipassī, the Great Seer (mahesi).
My knowledge (ñāṇa) is like the point of a diamond — through that deed (kamma) it is such;
I am dispassionate (virāga), I am liberated, I have attained the destruction of the taints (āsava).
All existences — past, present, and future —
with knowledge I have examined them all: this is the fruit of the gift of a needle.
In the ninety-first aeon (kappa) from now, there were seven named Vajirāsama,
wheel-turning monarchs (cakkavattī) endowed with the seven treasures, of great might.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Sūcidāyaka the Elder speak these verses.
