[145] Then I was a kinnarī on the bank of the river Candabhāgā;
I saw the stainless Buddha, the Self-Awakened One (Sayambhū), the unconquered.
With a confident mind (citta), glad, thrilled with joy, my joined palms raised in reverence,
I took a garland of reeds and worshipped the Self-Awakened One.
By that deed well done, and by my resolute intentions (cetanā-paṇidhi),
on abandoning the kinnarī's body I went to the host of the Thirty (Tidasa).⁴
I exercised the office of chief queen of thirty-six deva-kings;
I exercised the office of chief queen of ten wheel-turning monarchs (cakkavatti).
Having experienced the good [fruit], I went forth into homelessness.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned up; all states of existence have been extirpated;
all taints (āsava) are utterly destroyed; now there is no renewed existence.
In the ninety-fourth aeon from now, since I worshipped with that flower,
I know of no bad destination: this is the fruit of worshipping the Buddha.
My defilements have been burned up; all states of existence have been extirpated;
like a she-elephant that has burst her bonds, I dwell free of taints.
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of the best of Buddhas!
The three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been carried out.
The four analytical knowledges (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six direct knowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been carried out.
Thus indeed did the bhikkhunī Naḷamālikā speak these verses.
The Apadāna of the Therī Naḷamālikā is concluded.
The sixth: the Apadāna of the Therī Ekapiṇḍapātadāyikā (6)
