[230] What, on that occasion, is the power of moral dread (ottappa-bala)? That which, on that occasion, is moral dread — one dreads what ought to be dreaded, dreads the attainment (samāpatti) of evil, unwholesome phenomena (dhammā) — this, on that occasion, is the power of moral dread.
