[45] What on that occasion is the power of moral shame (hirībala)? That which on that occasion is the feeling of shame — one feels shame at that whereat one ought to feel shame (hiriyitabba), feels shame at engaging in evil, unwholesome phenomena (dhammā) — this on that occasion is the power of moral shame.
