[265] Which phenomena (dhammā) are wholesome? On the occasion when one develops the supramundane (lokuttara) jhāna — leading out (niyyānika), conducing to dismantling (apacayagāmī) — for the abandoning of wrong views (diṭṭhigata), for the attainment of the first stage (bhūmi), and, quite secluded from sensual pleasures, … enters and dwells in the first jhāna, which is emptiness (suññata) — on that occasion there is contact (phassa) … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa) … These phenomena are wholesome.
Which phenomena are wholesome? On the occasion when one develops the supramundane jhāna — leading out, conducing to dismantling — for the abandoning of wrong views, for the attainment of the first stage, and, with the subsiding of thought-conception and discursive thought (vitakka-vicāra), … the second jhāna … the third jhāna … the fourth jhāna … the first jhāna … enters and dwells in the fifth jhāna, which is emptiness — on that occasion there is contact … there is non-distraction … These phenomena are wholesome.
