[273] Which phenomena (dhammā) are wholesome?
On the occasion when one develops the supramundane jhāna (lokuttara jhāna) — leading out (niyyānika), conducive to dismantling (apacayagāmī) — for the abandoning without remainder of greed for fine-material existence (rūparāga), greed for immaterial existence (arūparāga), conceit (māna), restlessness (uddhacca), and ignorance (avijjā), and for the attainment of the fourth plane (bhūmi): quite secluded from sensual pleasures … he enters and dwells in the first jhāna, of painful practice and sluggish direct knowledge (dukkhāpaṭipadaṃ dandhābhiññaṃ) — on that occasion there is contact (phassa) … there is the perfect-knowledge faculty (aññindriya) … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa) …
