[486] What at that time is contact (phassa)? That which at that time is contact, touching, the act of touching, the state of being touched — this at that time is contact. … What at that time is one-pointedness of mind (cittassa ekaggatā)? That which at that time is stability of the mind (citta), steadiness, steadfastness, non-wavering, non-distraction, the state of unwavering mentality, calm (samatha), the faculty of concentration (samādhindriya), the power of concentration (samādhibala) — this at that time is one-pointedness of mind. … What at that time is the faculty of energy (viriyindriya)? That which at that time is the mental arousing of energy (viriyārambha), endeavour, exertion, striving, effort, enthusiasm, endurance, vigor, fortitude, the state of unremitting exertion, the state of not relinquishing zeal (chanda), the state of not laying down the task (dhura), the firm upholding of the task, energy, the faculty of energy, the power of energy — this at that time is the faculty of energy. What at that time is the faculty of concentration (samādhindriya)? That which at that time is stability of the mind, steadiness, steadfastness, non-wavering, non-distraction, the state of unwavering mentality, calm, the faculty of concentration, the power of concentration — this at that time is the faculty of concentration. … Or whatever other dependently arisen (paṭiccasamuppanna) immaterial phenomena (dhammā) there are at that time — these phenomena are indeterminate (abyākata).
