[326] What is the contact (phassa) that occurs at that time? That which at that time is contact, touching, contacting, the state of having contacted — this is the contact that occurs at that time. What is the feeling (vedanā) that occurs at that time? That which at that time is mental unpleasantness, mental pain (dukkha), born of contact with the corresponding mind-consciousness element (tajjāmanoviññāṇadhātu); the unpleasant, painful experience born of mind-contact (cetosamphassa); the unpleasant, painful feeling born of mind-contact — this is the feeling that occurs at that time. … What is the pain that occurs at that time? That which at that time is mental unpleasantness, mental pain; the unpleasant, painful experience born of mind-contact; the unpleasant, painful feeling born of mind-contact — this is the pain that occurs at that time. … What is the grief faculty (domanassindriya) that occurs at that time? That which at that time is mental unpleasantness, mental pain; the unpleasant, painful experience born of mind-contact; the unpleasant, painful feeling born of mind-contact — this is the grief faculty that occurs at that time. … What is the hatred (dosa) that occurs at that time? That which at that time is hatred, hating, the state of hating; malevolence, the act of malevolence, the state of malevolence; opposition, hostility; ferocity, harshness of speech; displeasure of mind (citta) — this is the hatred that occurs at that time. … What is the ill will (byāpāda) that occurs at that time? That which at that time is hatred, hating, the state of hating; malevolence, the act of malevolence, the state of malevolence; opposition, hostility; ferocity, harshness of speech; displeasure of mind — this is the ill will that occurs at that time. … Or whatever other dependently arisen immaterial phenomena (dhammā) there are at that time — these phenomena are unwholesome (akusala).
