On the occasion when one develops form-sphere (rūpāvacara) jhāna that is functional (kiriya) — neither wholesome nor unwholesome, and not the result of kamma (kamma-vipāka) — a pleasant abiding in this very life (diṭṭhadhammasukhavihāra): quite secluded from sensual pleasures … one enters and dwells in the first jhāna [on] the earth kasiṇa (paṭhavīkasiṇa) — on that occasion there is contact (phassa) … there is non-distraction (avikkhepa) …
