[549] Which is that form (rūpa) that is originated by mind (citta-samuṭṭhāna)? Bodily intimation (kāya-viññatti), verbal intimation (vacī-viññatti), or whatever other form there is that is born of mind (cittaja), caused by mind (citta-hetuka), originated by mind — namely: the form base (rūpāyatana), the sound base (saddāyatana), the odour base (gandhāyatana), the taste base (rasāyatana), the tangible base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana), the space element (ākāsa-dhātu), the water element (āpo-dhātu), lightness of form (rūpassa lahutā), malleability of form (rūpassa mudutā), wieldiness of form (rūpassa kammaññatā), growth of form (rūpassa upacayo), continuity of form (rūpassa santati), edible food (kabaḷīkāro āhāro) — this is that form that is originated by mind. Which is that form that is not originated by mind? The eye base (cakkhāyatana) … the body base (kāyāyatana), the femininity faculty (itthindriya), the masculinity faculty (purisindriya), the life faculty (jīvitindriya), decay of form (rūpassa jaratā), impermanence of form (rūpassa aniccatā), or whatever other form there is that is not born of mind, not caused by mind, not originated by mind — namely: the form base, the sound base, the odour base, the taste base, the tangible base, the space element, the water element, lightness of form, malleability of form, wieldiness of form, growth of form, continuity of form, edible food — this is that form that is not originated by mind.
