That eye which is sensitivity (pasāda) derived from the four primary elements (mahābhūta) … this too is "an empty village" — this is that form that is the eye faculty.
Which is that form that is the ear faculty (sotindriya)? … the nose faculty (ghānindriya) … the tongue faculty (jivhindriya) … the body faculty (kāyindriya) … the femininity faculty (itthindriya) … the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) … the life faculty (jīvitindriya)?
That which for those material phenomena (dhammā) is vitality (āyu), persistence (ṭhiti), continuance (yapanā), keeping going (yāpanā), moving on (iriyanā), proceeding (vattanā), maintenance (pālanā), life (jīvita), the life faculty — this is that form that is the life faculty.
Which is that form that is not a faculty (indriya)?
The form base (rūpāyatana) … edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāra āhāra) — this is that form that is not a faculty.
