[711] Therein, what is the taint of views (diṭṭhāsava)?
"The world is eternal," or "the world is not eternal," or "the world is finite," or "the world is infinite," or "the soul (jīva) and the body are the same," or "the soul is one thing, the body another," or "the Tathāgata exists after death," or "the Tathāgata does not exist after death," or "the Tathāgata both exists and does not exist after death," or "the Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death" — whatever view (diṭṭhi) of such a kind there is: the resort to views, the thicket of views, the wilderness of views, the contortion of views, the vacillation of views, the fetter of views (diṭṭhisaññojana), grasping, tenacious grasping, adherence, misapprehension, the wrong road, the false way, wrongness, the ground of sectarian tenets, the inverted grasp — this is called the taint of views.
All wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi) whatsoever is the taint of views.
